Three years after their unjust dismissal, 20 irregular workers at GM Korea’s Bupyeong factory will be reinstated to their jobs. On Jan. 22, the GM Korea union for irregular workers announced that GM Korea and the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) had agreed to reinstate 20 irregular workers to their former positions. The workers are part of a group of 46 irregular workers who were unjustly terminated from GM Korea’s Bupyeong factory after operations were downsized in 2018. The photo shows a dismissed irregular worker holding a sit-in demonstration on top of a steel tower in front of the Bupyeong factory on Aug. 25, 2019. (Shin So-young, staff photographer)
