North Korea and South Korea reached an agreement Tuesday to hold expert talks on a potential volcanic eruption at Mount Baekdu in early May and conduct a joint field investigation in mid-June, South Korean officials said.
Experts from North Korea and South Korea held the second round of volcano talks in Kaesong, North Korea’s industrial city near the border, to decide to organize the academic forums in Pyeongyang or at another convenient location in early May. They will decide on the details of the planned talks and the on-site survey for “deeper understanding” of the volcanic activities via their follow-up consultations.

North Korea’s mobile phone users grow 50 percent
The number of mobile phone users in North Korea has increased to 450,000, up 50 per cent from the figure released late last year by an Egyptian company operating in the reclusive nation, South Korean officials said Tuesday.
In a speech to a group of businessmen in Seoul, Vice Unification Minister Um Jong-sik said the increase indicates more and more ordinary North Koreans, particularly youths, are enjoying mobile communications within the boundaries of isolation set by the regime.
