According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), 1,767 of the cases were transmitted domestically, while the remaining 38 were imported from overseas. The country’s cumulative total is now 228,657.

The greater Seoul area accounted for 1,107 of the domestic cases: 507 in Seoul, 509 in Gyeonggi Province and 91 in Incheon. The remaining 698 occurred throughout other parts of the country.

The number of patients in severe or critical condition increased by 12 to 366. The cumulative death toll increased by five to 2,178.
