Now that all members have been formally discharged from the military, BTS has announced that they will release their next album in the spring of next year. On Tuesday, the group appeared in a livestream titled “BTS is back” on Weverse, a fandom platform. The group issued their surprise announcement of a new album during the same livestream. 

“Starting in July, we’ll gather and focus our work on the new album,” RM said during the livestream. “It really looks like our new album will be released in spring of next year.”
 
“We’re also planning on a world tour to celebrate the new album,” he added. 

If BTS releases a new full album and holds an exclusive concert with all members present, it will be the first time since the release of their anthology album “Proof” and their “Yet to Come in Busan” concert in 2022. 

Regarding the amount of time it will take for a new album to emerge, Jimin said, “Some fans may have thought that we would release an album as soon as we all got back together, but you can’t make an album while serving in the military, nor should you.” 

“We have to start making the album now, so it’s going to take some time,” he added.

“We’ll keep communicating through Weverse and social media, so if you just give us some time, we’ll give you a proper album,” RM said. 

The idol group reportedly plans to record their new album in the US. 

The first of the BTS members began their military service in December 2022, with the oldest, Jin, enlisting first. RM, V, Jimin and Jungkook were discharged last month, marking the end of the group’s military hiatus.
