The South Korean government plans to allot 300 billion won (US$253.41 million) in emergency relief funds for low-cost airlines, who have taken a major financial hit because of reduced overseas travel amid the novel coronavirus outbreak. Finance Minister Hong Nam-ki announced the emergency relief funds at the Seoul Central Government Complex on Feb. 17. Nearly 80% of South Korean flights to and from China have been cut or suspended to prevent further spread of the coronavirus.
