Hyundai Motor Group is set to partner with US-based autonomous driving solution developer Aurora to begin mass production of autonomous vehicles by 2021. Aurora is recognized as a world leader in development autonomous navigation software, and is led by Chris Urmson, formerly the General Manager of Google’s automation technology division. Urmson is expected to make a joint announcement with Hyundai Motor’s Vice Chairman of Research and Development, Yang Woong-cheol at CES 2018 in Las Vegas on Jan. 8. Beginning next month, Hyundai is set to demonstrate its hydrogen electric vehicle in Korea.
