A group of female victims of forced labor during the Japanese occupation have begun the procedural steps to seize the Korean assets of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries after the company refused to abide by a South Korean Supreme Court ruling obliging Japanese firms to compensate victims. Mitsubishi currently has over 770 patents in South Korea, and a group of attorneys representing the victims have applied to seize and liquidate over 10 of them to the Seoul Central District Court. The photos show Yang Geum-deok, 89, who was forced to work without pay under Mitsubishi during the colonial occupation, and a group of young Korean girls who were mobilized for forced labor by Japanese soldiers from 1944 to 1945.
