South Korean researchers have achieved the highest known level of efficiency for perovskite solar cell (PSC), exceeding 25%. The Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology announced it had achieved an efficiency of 25.2% in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The achievement has been registered on the PSC efficiency chart of the US Energy Department’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). PSC solar panels are cheaper and easier to manufacture than silicon solar panels, marking them as a potential next-generation energy source.
