It has been reported that the younger sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is working as the manager of events for the North Korean National Defense Committee. Her name is Kim Yo-jong, and she is 27 years old.

“At the beginning of 2012, Kim Yo-jong embarked on a career as a public servant, working as the manager of events for the National Defense Commission,” reported Yonhap News on July 21, quoting multiple sources on North Korea.

“She is working under Kim Chang-son, who is deputy director of the National Defense Commission, but in reality serves as chief secretary and oversees ceremonies for Kim Jong-un,” Yonhap reported.

In the same article, Yonhap also reported that Kim Yo-jong could be serving as a manager with the Propaganda and Agitation Department of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

“We heard that Kim Yo-jong was taking a direct role in the events for Kim Jong Un after the death of former North Korean leader Kim Jong-il from several figures who took part in the first event,” a North Korean source was quoted as saying in a July 18 report by Radio Free Asia.

“Before Kim Jong-un goes to pay his respects at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, Kim Yo-jong visits the site of the event to check the location of filming and the uniforms of the honor guard in detail,” the source said.

Kim, who was the daughter of Kim Jong-il and Ko Yong-hui, is said to have studied in Switzerland with Kim Jong Un in the late 1990s.

According to the testimony of Kenji Fujimoto, who has gained notoriety as Kim Jong-il’s former sushi chef, Kim Yo-jong was a favorite of her father and is every bit as ambitious as her older brother.
