Col. Brandon D. Newton, commander of US Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I at Camp Casey in Dongducheon, has donated to the Republic of Korea Army a trove of photos taken by his grandfather, Master Sgt. Thomas Benton Hutton (1910-1988), during the Korean War (1950-53). Hutton first arrived in Korea in 1952 and captured images of the country throughout his service with a 35mm camera. Many of the images came with Hutton’s own captions, such as "Schoolboys in Korea," “Bridge on the Kum River, 25 miles from Taejon," and "A street in Seoul." The last of the photos shows Sgt. Hutton himself in Daejeon. His photos contain immense historical value, as the images contain a Korea we shall never see again.
